Education and Research
Encouraging academic research is one of the important functions of a university. Improving and enriching a research environment for both faculty and students should be a constant as well as the ultimate goal of a university.
- The division of Education and Research Development is responsible for the advancement of overall instructional and research quality.
- Faculty members are encouraged to use "course outline sheets" and "course evaluation sheets" to improve instrutional quality.
- A faculty specialty databank and a faculty research project databank have been established.
- A Common Curriculum Committee responsible for the planning and implementation of common required courses has been established to ensure effective use of all possible educational resources.
- The functions of the Course Planning Committee, in charge of reviewing of courses, have been strengthened.
- Academic journals of Chinese Literature, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work, Foreign Languages and Literature, Math, Law, Economics and Business are published annually to maintain overall academic standards in different fields of study.
- A Scholarship and Financial Aid Committee has been established to encourage research among faculty members.
Instructional Resources
Library
The main Library on the main campus, a seven-story building, along with the downtown branch, covers an area of 8,827.5 square meters, housing over 437,000 books, 2,800 periodicals and journals, and no less than 15,000 non-book items. Automation and computerization have been completed at both libraries.
Computing Center
Under the Center, there are the Systems, Network, and Administration Divisions. Three are over 400 PCs (including 586 PCs) in computer labs. On both campuses, 2020 Internet connections have been set up to facilitate faculty and students' access to the Internet.
In each faculty study room, a PC is provided.
Language Center
There are 12 Language Labs and 2 video rooms, each of which contains equipment such as crystal liquid projectors and data viewers. One self-access audio-video room on each campus allows students to do self-paced language learning. The Center also offers advice on English learning through English clinics as well as English lab Classes.
The Grand Complex The building houses the Auditorium, a conference room, a dancing studio, table-tennis rooms, an indoor stadium, a work-out gym, faculty and student lounges, an outdoor theater, a food court, a post office, and a cafeteria.
