of Economics
¡@The department was established in 1954. Currently, we offer degrees of study in Bachelor, Master*s, and Ph.D. programs. The undergraduate program is aimed at providing basic knowledge, whereas the graduate programs devote themselves to the training of economists with independent research and analytical abilities.
With emphasis on theory and practice, the undergraduate program offers courses in basic theory and its application, including microeconomics, macroeconomics, management science, computer science, trade theory and practices, accounting, and commercial English. Graduate programs focus on advanced economic research in diversified areas, such as industrial organization, monetary theory and policy, international economics, public finance, regional economics, history of economics, and econometrics.
During the 1996/7 academic year, the department has 942 undergraduate students, 48 graduate students, 18 full time professors/associate professors, 41 part time teachers, and 10 teaching assistants. Under excellent environment, the alumni of the department have various job perspective, including civil servants, banking and financial industries, academics, self-employed managers, and others. Scholars with distinguished expertise are highly welcome to join the rank of full time faculty in order to upgrade, continuously, the academic standard of the department.
