
| Soochow University was founded in China by the Methodists in 1900. In 1951, the Soochow Alumni Association in Taiwan started the process of reactivating the University by establishing the Soochow Preparatory School in Downtown Taipei. The downtown campus building was completed in 1971, thus the Soochow University spilt into two campus:Waishuangshi campus and downtown campus. Secondary Teacher Education Program was established in 1996 belonging to Department of Academic Affairs. Considering academic research and teaching purpose, this program thus was moved the School of Arts and Social Science in Waishuangshi campus. Teacher Education Program presently cultivates secondary teachers in 9 categories: Chinese, English, Mathematics, Natural Science (physics and chemistry, Biology), Music, Counseling, Social Science (History, Civics), Second Foreign Language and Business Education. The targets of TEP are to develop teaching knowledge and caring personality. The program also provides students of Soochow University a promising career choice.
