Aims of Education
The School of Science holds that college education
should be given in a way that is simple, practical and
realistic. The content of the courses is designed in
response to the diversity of the students’ potentials
and social dynamics, all in order to ensure well-balanced
moral and intellectual development of the students through
the specialization programs and the general education.
Characteristics of Curriculum and Instruction
Basic science is the cornerstone of various technologies
and industries. The content of the courses and the way
of instruction aim at cultivating scientific talents
with technical skills and clear thinking. The School's
curricula allow for a gradual transition from an introductory
to an advanced level. In the freshman, sophomore and
junior years, the students have to complete the required
courses from low level to upper level, while they can
also take elective courses. All departments in the School
require students to take Seminar or Special Topic Research
courses. Theory and experimentation are both emphasized,
with theory serving as the foundation of practice and
experimentation the ability to combine hands with the
brain. Particular attention is paid to maintain laboratory
safety, train professional skills, and at the same time
enhance humanistic understanding, so that students will
be well qualified to make contributions to society after
graduating from the University.
