Aims of Education
In keeping with a tradition that values honesty and
reliability, the School of Business offers students
professional training in the area of business and opportunities
to enhance their knowledge of the humanities. The School
trains managerial personnel with an international outlook,
interdisciplinary skills and creativity, who are capable
of meeting the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly
changing world. The Master's and the Ph. D. programs
aim at developing high-level academic and professional
leaders.
Characteristics of Curriculum and Instruction
The curriculum and way of instruction are designed
to meet national and industrial needs for economic growth.
The faculty consists of outstanding academic and professional
talent committed to the cultivation of managerial personnel
well versed in theory and practice. The classes combine
conveying professional knowledge and providing practical
experience. Through case studies, the students are trained
to develop their skills in analysis and judgment, enabling
them to put what they have learned into use in practical
application, in order to garner an edge in the highly
competitive job market.
The academic programs emphasize the following
features:
1. Adoption of the newest teaching materials from the
U. S.. Visiting scholars are invited for seminars and
workshops, given in English, to offer the students an
opportunity to develop an international outlook.
2. Offering, by all the departments in the School
of Business, the Seminar courses, for which scholars
from inside or outside the University are invited to
give lectures on issues like current economic policies,
trade development, or business management. This is to
create an atmosphere for open diSUssion and to further
advance the students’ independent thinking and skills
in communication.
3. To promote computerized education, students are
provided with an understanding and hands-on experience
of various applications of information technology incorporated
into the fields of accounting, financial management
or economics, besides these specialized courses on computing.
The students are given a solid theoretical foundation
and instruction in computing skills.
4. Setting up Master's programs for those professionals
who work at daytime, offering them the opportunity for
continuing education. The programs are highly acclaimed.
5. Stressing the importance of academic exchanges
with institutions in China. The School of Business has
scholarly exchange programs with sister institutions
in Mainland China and is offering business courses related
to the economy and trade between China and Taiwan.
6. In view of the technological and economical realities,
the School of Business runs two interdisciplinary programs,
Technological Management and Finance in order to more
widely develop innovative talents.
