Modern Physics Laboratory

 

Lab Experiments:

Millikan oil drop experiment, Frank-Hertz experiment, Zeeman effect, Fine

structure of atomic spectrum, Electron diffraction, Electron spin resonance,

Photoelectric effect, Hall effect (metal and semiconductor), Energy gap of

semiconductors.

Special topics of experiment: Experiments about lock-in amplifier, Atomic

force microscopy, Scanning tunneling microscopy, Experiments of

high-temperature superconductors.

 

Objective:

To convince the students of the material of modern physics that they studied

and to help  them  learning about  the techniques of  experiments.

 

Electronics Laboratory

 

Lab Experiments:

Digital multimeter, Digital storage oscilloscope, High frequency oscilloscope

Spectram analyzer, Microprocessor emulator, Multifunctional lath

 

Objective:

1. To understand the function and application of electronic instrumentations.

2. To practice the operation of mechanical tools.

3. To learn the frabrication and use of printed-circuit board.

 

Physics Laboratory (II)

 

Lab Experiments:

Experiments in optics with basic training in fundamental optics techniques and in

advanced experiment on special topics.

Under advanced experiments, there are nine special topics involved:

1. A study of distance measurement (laser experiment)

2. Light velocity measurement

3. Micro-wave experiment

4. Holography

5. Michelson and Fabry-Perot interferometer

6. A study of spectra (prism spectrometer)

7. Spatial filtering experiment

8. Fiber-optics & E-O techniques experiment

9. Grating spectrography

Objective:

This provides a fundation for further research in physics and in industrial

applications.

 

General Physics Laboratory

 

Lab Experiments:

 

Objective:

Complements general physics, illustrating basic concepts and training students in

correct laboratory attitude and basic methods of general measurement.

 

 

Research Laboratories

 

Biomedical Physics and Technology

 

Lab Experiments:  

Electrodermal Screening Device.

Oscilloscope Personal Computer.

Dynamic Signal Analyzer.

Synthesizer/Function Generator.

Laser Printer and Accessaries.

 Objective:  

  1. The electric response of the human body to reveal.
    (1)the physics of Chinese physiology (traditional).
    (2)the principle of Western homeopathy. 
    (3)the possible integration of Eastern and Western medicines.

  2. The development of medical instruments to enhance diagnostic and therapeutic capability.

  3. The study of pathology in coorperation with hospital.

Vacuum experiment Laboratory

 

Lab Experiments:

Experiments in sputtering with basic training in vacuum techniques and in

thin film growth.

 

Objective:

This provides advanced training for further research in physics

and in industrial applications.

Spectra Laboratory

 

Lab Experiments:

Experiments in optics with advanced training in optics techniques and in

research experiment on special topics.

There are two special topics involved:

1. Raman spectroscopy

2.Grating spectroscopy

 

Objective:

This provides advanced training for further research in physics and in

industrial applications.
