Bisexuality is none-existence or invisibilised in Taiwan? As a bisexual woman and a sociology graduate student, it seemed both natural and important for me to research bisexuals because so little work had been done in this field in Taiwan.

There are many myths and stereotypes of bisexual—as hypersexual, uncommitted, swingers, immoral, confused, a homo who in the closet . This thesis dose not aim to define what is bisexuality and who is “real” bisexual. It dose aim, however, to explore what are the factors which influence the sexual identity of a man who has sexual experiences and desires for people of dual sexes.

I try to find and describe the relation and mutual effect between ideological state apparatuses, erotic experience and identity. The research method of this thesis is interviews and text analysis. All texts selected and samples have bisexual experience no matter what they identify who they are.

The result of this thesis find that the more pressure of ideological state apparatuses the one suffer, he/she could be restrain his/her erotic and tend to identify as a hetero, and believe that he/she must has a fixed sexual identity. The one who can empower his/her dual sexes erotic experience, usually can challenges to the values of mainstream society—heterosexual couple relationship and monosexuality, he/she often takes sexual identity as “fluidity”, so he/she may identify self as a bisexual but this identity is not always fixed.
